01 — Overview

Software that lives on the web, built around your idea.

A cloud application is software that runs on the web, so there is nothing to install: your team, your customers or your partners sign in from a browser on any device. It is how most modern business tools are delivered, and it is how we build custom ones.

Typical examples are internal tools that replace shared spreadsheets, customer portals where people place orders or follow progress, booking and quoting systems, and multi-tenant platforms where every customer gets their own branded space on top of one shared system.

We build these from scratch rather than adapting a template, so the screens, the permissions and the workflow match what you are actually trying to do. If your idea is a product you want to launch, we will help you decide on the smallest useful first version and then grow it.

02 — Is this for you?

When a custom web app makes sense

01

Your process lives in spreadsheets

Several people edit the same files, versions drift apart and nobody fully trusts the numbers.

02

Customers need to log in

Orders, bookings, documents or progress that clients should see and update for themselves.

03

You have a product idea

A platform or service you want to launch that no existing software quite does.

04

Different people need different views

Staff, managers and customers should each see only what belongs to them.

03 — What we build

What we build into cloud applications

01

Accounts and roles

Sign-in with roles and permissions, so people see and change only what they should.

02

Dashboards and reporting

Live numbers for your team and, where it helps, for your customers.

03

Multi-user and multi-tenant

One system serving many teams or customers, each with their own space, branding and data.

04

Payments and billing

One-off and recurring payments through providers such as Stripe, connected to the accounts they belong to.

05

Notifications

Emails and in-app messages triggered by what happens in the system.

06

Every device

Designed to work properly on phones, tablets and desktops, not just a large screen.

04 — How we work

How we approach web application development

01

Find the smallest useful version

We agree what has to work on day one, so you can launch early and learn from real use, then add to it.

02

Design the data and permissions first

Who can see what, and how the information fits together, are decided before the screens are drawn.

03

Build in the open

You see working versions as we go and can steer, rather than waiting for a big reveal.

04

Host it and look after it

It runs on dependable hosting. We train your team and offer an optional monthly plan for hosting and support.

Indicative timings and what each pricing tier includes are on the process and pricing sections of the home page.

05 — Client stories

Cloud application development in practice

Real systems we have built for real clients. Each one started from a blank page, and no two look alike.

06 — Questions

Cloud application questions

What is the difference between a cloud application and a website?

A website mostly presents information. A cloud application lets people do things: sign in, enter and change data, place orders, track progress and get notified. Many of our builds include a public website alongside the application.

How much does a custom cloud application cost?

Cloud applications are scoped together with you and priced as a fixed fee, in writing, before anything starts. Smaller tools can be a focused build, while platforms with several types of user, permissions and integrations are scoped as larger projects. VAT may apply. See the pricing.

Can you build a platform where each customer has their own space?

Yes. We built a multi-tenant coaching platform where every coach gets their own branded site, client portal and billing from one shared system. See the coaching platform story.

How long does it take to build a web application?

It depends on scope. We aim to get a useful first version live early, then build on it. Indicatively, a week to discover, a week to design and two to four weeks to build, with a realistic plan agreed when we scope it.

Do you host the application?

It runs on ordinary, dependable hosting, and we offer an optional monthly plan for hosting and support so you do not have to look after it yourself.

Who owns the application and the data?

You do. Your data is always exportable and there is no lock-in.

Is it secure and GDPR-friendly?

Security is part of the design from day one: role-based access, encrypted connections and sensible data handling, with GDPR in mind. If you have specific requirements, raise them early and we will tell you honestly what is realistic.

07 — More services

Often built together

Most projects use more than one of these. See all of our services.
